We are thrilled to invite you to the opening of Body Language, the first solo exhibition at Galleri Christoffer Egelund by Australian artist Ash Holmes.

As a fourth-generation artist with a background in the psychology of color, Holmes creates a profound sensory connection between the viewer and the canvas. Her work bridge the gap between the physical body and the raw beauty of the natural world, using a harmonious palette of earthy, muted tones that evoke the feeling of vast landscapes—from the rugged Australian coast to mysterious, distant forests.

The Physicality of Painting

While Holmes’ large, gestural brushstrokes nod to the Abstract Expressionism of the 1940s, she reimagines the tradition. Unlike the heavy, saturated tones of her predecessors, Holmes utilizes a delicate color palette that elevates her marks, creating a space for personal reflection and "sustained listening."

Featuring 15 new works created specifically for this show, Body Language is an invitation to soften the boundaries between yourself and the environment.
