INTRODUCING AUSTRALIAN ARTIST SAXON JJ QUINN
Saxon JJ Quinn is a mixed media artist interested in the rough, the worn and the resilient. He primarily uses canvas, graphite and paint, ai, layering hues, symbols and textures to create works that sway from the intentional to the unrestrained, the minimalist to the uninhibited. Each piece bears meaningful motifs alongside elements of mischievous humour, with each mark representing an aspect of his life. These marks are arranged precisely to induce a sensory effect, where a calming constellation can be found in a world of perceived chaos.
Saxon Quinn, a self-taught artist with a background in Visual Design, has been immersed in art and creativity since his childhood in country Victoria. His mother, Dianne Coulter, is also an artist and has a spacious studio and gallery on their family property where Saxon grew up. His mother tied a basket to the ceiling of her studio where, as a baby, he would swing while she worked. As he grew older, he began sketching, painting and experimenting with clay, at times accidentally defacing her works in the process. After completing studies in Communication Design and establishing his career in Melbourne, Saxon relocated to New York City. His works were shown in New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, among others.
You can see his stunning paintings among other great artworks at SUMMERTIME'23 THE ANNUAL GROUP SHOW at Bredgade 75. The exhibition can be seen until August 18th, 2023. Don't miss it if you haven't seen it yet!
Opening hours: Wednesday-Friday 15-18, Saturday 12-16 or after appointment. For further information and sales request, please contact the gallery at: hello@christofferegelund.dk or at +45 33 93 92.
