Brian Harte - Selection
BRIAN HARTE (IE), Bedroom, 2020, Oil on linen, 120x120 cm.

The Irish artist Brian Harte creates paintings of monochromatic spaces that are usually rooms used by humans. Applying one tone or colour that is striking and eye-catching is an interesting contrast to other elements of the composition. Technically a background, the colour is the main component in Harte’s works. It is then that the viewer notices the detailed figures, elements, sharp lines and various paint applications. In this “Bedroom” the artist creates an aqua blue space featuring a bed with a human and a cat, a side table and a painting. All kept in rectangular shapes, they create small artworks within the painting. Especially the picture of a lamp with a fun patterned armchair.

Brian Harte was born in 1978. He lives and works in Ireland. He has completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork. His solo shows were held in various parts of the world including: Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, Dublin. As part of group shows he has exhibited in Copenhagen, Naples, London and San Francisco. His works can be found in notable collections such as Bank of Ireland, AIB, Office of Public Works (OPW), Ireland and Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Germany.

HELEN ROBINSON (US), Women Are Powerful, 2021, Oil on polycotton linen, 76x102 cm.
HELEN ROBINSON (US), Women Are Powerful, 2021, Oil on polycotton linen, 76x102 cm.

Helen Robinson skilfully portrays wardrobe elements and slogans on them. With a great attention to detail she paints t-shirts, blouses, denim jackets, caps - anything that contains a wearable message. The figures are always faceless and caught in a moment like having a glass of wine, struggling to carry groceries with nearly spilling coffee or having a green juice. By portraying such ordinary parts of the everyday together with a fun sentence on the clothing the results are paintings that not only strike with precise brushstrokes but also put a smile on the viewer’s face. In “Women Are Powerful” there are 2 figures standing together, almost becoming one. They are proudly wearing white t-shirts with a feminist slogan. A message that is forever relevant.

Helen Robinson is an American artist based out of Brooklyn, New York. She received her Bachelor degree in Studio Art and Art History at Vanderbilt University, Nashville in 2013, in that time also completing a semester in Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in Paris, France. She continues to build her own body of work at her studio in Brooklyn. Helen’s work focuses on conceptual portraiture that explores the nature of representation and the limitless potential of the human figure as a subject. Her paintings are all derived from photographs and studies and are mostly documentary in style. She had numerous group exhibitions around USA: New York, Charlotte, Darien and Nashville.

KRISTA ROSENKILDE, Mermaid, 2021, Oil an oil stick on wood, 120x80 cm.
KRISTA ROSENKILDE, Mermaid, 2021, Oil and oil stick on wood, 120x80 cm.

The works of Krista Rosenkilde contain a lot of elements. First, it is the choice of colours that are always extraordinary and represent well the artist’s palette. Then we are drawn to the geometrical shapes that form the theme of the composition. To top it off Krista Rosenkilde fills the spaces with patterns. The result is a delightful mix’n’match of styles, shades and motifs, blurring the line between art and design. This particular “Mermaid” has maybe the most interesting tail ever portrayed in art history.

Krista Rosenkilde (b. 1982) lives and works in Copenhagen. She holds MFA from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen. She works with various media to extend the field of painting in order to create a large coherent piece consisting of many small parts that engage in a dialogue with each other. She has exhibited solo and in group shows all around Denmark. In 2019 she collaborated with Fritz Hansen Furniture to create a Lino print design for the Ant Chair by Arne Jacobsen. Her works can be found in various collections such as: Politikens Hus House Collection, Københavns Billedkunstudvalg or The Danish Art Foundation.

JULIE VON LOTZBECK, Freedom of Intention, 2021, Engraved glass and wood relief, 101x152 cm.

Julie Von Lotzbeck started her artistic path with painting yet was not fully satisfied with what the medium had to offer. Looking for different approach she decided to try engraving and found that creating layers was the language of her expression. She now skilfully constructs reliefs from various materials. This large format piece is built from glass and wood. The first layer is a detailed engraving that forms patterns and liquid-like drippings. Then underneath the wood is carved in different manner along with its natural rings. Overall, the relief welcomes the viewer to see through all the surfaces.

Julie Von Lotzbeck was born in 1976 and is based in Copenhagen. She finished the Danish Design School in 2003. She considers her artistic path a constant process. After becoming stagnant with painting since 2014 she became focused on sculptures and reliefs. Her works have been exhibited around Denmark and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
